Students and faculty at BYU Law have a number of international connections. Because of that, interest in foreign law is quite high. One resource you’ll want to know about if you need secondary literature from outside of the United States is the Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals. IFLP is a subject index to over 500 legal journals published worldwide. Recently, IFLP moved to HeinOnline which will be an easier place for our users to find it.
Like most indexes, IFLP does not have the full text of all the journal articles it indexes. However, HeinOnline will link users to articles that are in HeinOnline. The great thing about an index with foreign law sources is that you can use English-based subject terms to find foreign language articles. Here’s an example if I’m searching for articles on abortion:
