Today, February 12, 2008, marks the 199th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth. Next year we will celebrate the Bicentennial of his birth and events are already being planned across the country. To remember President Lincoln today I thought some links would be appropriate:

Mr. Lincoln’s Virtual Library (Library of Congress)

The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln (The Abraham Lincoln Assoc.)

Scanned Images of:

Emancipation Proclamation

The Gettysburg Address

Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address

Words and Speeches of Lincoln (Lincoln Bicentennial)

Treatises on Lincoln from the late 19th and Early 20th Centuries (Making of Modern Law – Law Library subscription)

For books on Lincoln search the Library Catalog

My favorite book on Lincoln is Lincoln at Gettysburg by Garry Wills.

This picture is of President Lincoln reading with his son, Tad, and is one of my favorites. It sits (and will soon hang) in my office.

An 1864 Mathew Brady photo depicts President Lincoln reading a book with his youngest son, Tad.
