The Howard W. Hunter Law Library at Brigham Young University is seeking applicants for one or more law library faculty positions (continuing faculty status track) to begin Fall Semester 2018.
A successful applicant must have a JD degree, a strong academic background, and significant experience conducting in-depth legal research. Candidates must also have an aptitude for working with and learning new technology, excellent problem solving skills, creativity, strong interpersonal skills, a deep commitment to providing excellent service, and a proven ability to work effectively in a team. While not required, the Law Library is seeking candidates who have experience in one or more of the following areas: business and corporate research, quantitative research, data science, assessment, user design experience, and corpus linguistics.
While the exact contours of the position will depend on the expertise, experience, and aptitude of the successful candidate, areas of responsibility will include the following: (1) faculty research support; (2) legal research instruction; (3) reference assistance for faculty, students, and members of the public; and (4) personal research and scholarship that are an outgrowth of the librarian’s responsibilities.
