Today the Deseret News has a brief article about the history of the Utah Supreme…
Tomorrow the Law School will host the Utah Supreme Court as they hear two cases in the Moot Court Room. This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to watch the State’s highest court in action and we’re grateful that the Court comes to visit us annually.
In anticipation of their visit, I thought I’d highlight some of the great information that is available from the Utah State Courts website. Each year we conduct a survey of returning law students about their legal research during the past summer. Court websites are consistently one of the most used resources by our students, with 64% of the 182 students responding to our survey using court websites during their summer research. The Utah Court website is great because it provides free access to the latest Utah Court of Appeals and Supreme Court cases, Utah Court Rules, and a number of forms and other self-help resources. In preparation for tomorrow, you can also read up on the Utah Supreme Court and find a useful guide for practitioners arguing before the court. The Utah Supreme Court even provides live streaming of oral arguments, as well as archived copies of the audio files.
