Did you know BYU Law alumni have access to many law library resources after graduation?
In terms of remote access to resources, we provide all alumni with the law journal library in HeinOnline. Use the HeinOnline Alumni Access link under Helpful Links at the bottom of the law library home page and login with your NetID and password. Alumni also have access to dozens of LexisNexis treatises through the LexisNexis Digital Library. Available treatises include:
- Corbin on Contracts
- Moore’s Federal Practice
- Utah Civil Practice
For a complete list of titles and information on how to sign up, click here to visit our web page about LexisNexis Digital Library Attorney Access.
We provide scanning services for law firms, although there is a fee for out-of-state firms. We provide reference services to anyone who emails us at reference@law.byu.edu or calls 801-422-6658. Click here for more information from our “Ask a Librarian” Options page.
If you stay in the Utah County area, you can visit the library in person and use our print resources including treatises and form books. Alumni can apply for checkout privileges from the circulation desk. Our older versions of the Utah code and Utah legislative history resources are often used by practicing attorneys as the online Utah historical code only goes back to 2014. The University of Utah has digitized older copies of the Utah Code from 1943-1995 and they can be found online in the Utah Law Digital Commons. We also have recordings on CD available for checkout that have been approved for Utah CLE credit. Click here to view more information about CLE recordings.
Alumni can access many electronic resources in person as well. Electronic resources available in-person include HeinOnline (full BYU access), ProQuest databases including Legislative Insight, Westlaw Patron Access, PLIPlus, vLex, and VitalLaw. In-person visitors have access to most main campus BYU databases including historical newspapers, JSTOR, EBSCO Academic Search Ultimate, and many more.
