Nominations to the Supreme Court of the United States are always a hot topic – especially in law school. With President Obama’s reelection and the recent inauguration, the topic of potential SCOTUS picks is always lurking. While we can’t predict the future, we can give you some help if you’re looking historically at Supreme Court nominees. The Law Library has recently acquired a HeinOnline Library, History of Supreme Court Nominations, that provides documents, including testimony, surrounding the successful and unsuccessful nominations of Supreme Court Justices. This library currently covers from Louis Brandeis (1916) to Elena Kagan (2010). This library will be a great tool for anyone interested in studying the SCOTUS nomination and confirmation process or the Justices themselves.
